A Place to call Home
Housing is one of the six pillars on which Lovebridge focuses in its empowerment process. Living in precarious conditions reinforce the feelings of exclusion, solitude and self-stigmatisation. How can one feel empowered, when the walls which are supposed to protect one’s family are falling apart? Everyone has the right to a decent place to live which one can call Home. But this is not the case for many Mauritian families.
In its fight against poverty, Lovebridge has launched a housing project, A Place to call Home, which aims at helping some if its beneficiary families to live in better housing conditions. Lovebridge makes a call to Mauritian citizens to contribute to this fundraising project. The aim is to raise Rs 1 million until the 30th June 2018. This money will be dedicated to renovations on a maximum of beneficiary families’ houses.
To get out of a situation of poverty, one needs courage and resilience, the same values which one finds in sports. Hence, until the 30th June 2018, Lovebridge will associate itself to three sports events. The first one has been the participation of the team Zétinc’Elles, a feminine sports team from Mauritius-Reunion, in the Ferney Trail 2017.
